We recently changed out several older bathroom faucets for fresh, updated fixtures—including a bold matte-black faucet and modern brushed-gold faucets. It’s a great example of how a simple plumbing upgrade can change the entire look of a bathroom.
Out With the Old. In With the New.
The existing faucets had an older polished-gold look. Instead of replacing the sinks, countertops or vanities, the homeowner was able to give these bathrooms a noticeable refresh by upgrading the fixtures.
We removed the old faucets, installed the new fixtures, connected the plumbing underneath the sinks and tested everything for proper operation and leaks.
A Modern Matte-Black Upgrade
One of the sinks received a new matte-black faucet. Against the lighter sink and countertop, the darker finish creates a clean contrast and immediately gives the bathroom a more modern appearance.
Updating Gold Without Getting Rid of Gold
Gold fixtures are popular again, but today’s brushed-gold finishes have a very different appearance from many of the polished brass fixtures installed years ago. These new fixtures kept the warmth of a gold finish while giving the sinks a cleaner, more current look.
What’s Under the Sink Matters Too.
A faucet replacement isn’t only about what you see above the countertop. When we’re working under the sink, we also pay attention to the plumbing connections and make sure everything is operating properly.
It’s much better to catch a questionable connection while we’re already working under the sink than after it turns into a leak.
Does Every Leaking Faucet Need to Be Replaced?
No. Some faucets can be repaired by replacing a cartridge, stem, seal or another internal component.
Replacement may make more sense when the faucet is older, parts are difficult to find, the finish is deteriorating, several components are beginning to fail, or you simply want to update the appearance of the bathroom.
